School-Parent Compact 2024-2025

The completion of a home/school compact is an essential component of the program. This compact outlines how the parents/guardians, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve at high standards.

School Responsibilities:
Tri-Community will:
  1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement as follow:
    • An approved curriculum that aligns with state standards
    • Research based instructional programs.
    • Highly qualified teacher to implement the curriculum.
    • Technology/Device for virtual/distance learning and information on internet options.
    • Flexible office hours to assist family learning needs
  2. Hold parent-teacher conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Conferences will be held in November 2023 and March 2024; teachers will provide zoom/virtual meetings as needed.
  3. Provide parents with frequent reports on their child’s progress. Report cards will be available online three times per year at the end of each trimester. (K-1 grades in trimesters 2 and 3 only) (Progress reports for grades 2-5) and parents will be provided a data letter about their child’s progress during Parent-Teacher Conferences.
  4. Provide parents/guardians reasonable access to staff. Staff members will be available via e-mail, by phone, or scheduled meetings. Contact information for each school is available on the District Website, www.cdschools.org., and HAC (Home Access Center), and teachers will use a messaging tool/app for parents.
  5. Provide parents’ opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activates as described in the school handbook.
  6. Monthly informational newsletter from principals.
  7. Provide translation services and provide documents in accessible languages.
  8. Have an open-door policy to meet with and speak to families at their request or as soon as possible at the schedule and availability of the principal.
Parent Responsibilities:
Parents will support their children’s learning in the following ways:
  • Monitor student attendance-send in written excuses within 3 days or email an excuse with parent signature sent to TriCNotes@cdschools.org
  • Ensure schoolwork (including cyber learning) and homework is complete.
  • Monitor time and activity on television and electronic devices, including social media.
  • Volunteer at the school or in the classroom. Join the PTO.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in decisions relating to your child’s education.
  • Promoting positive use of your child’s extracurricular time.
  • Staying informed about your child’s education and communicating with the school by reading all notices from school or district and responding in a timely manner.
  • Serving, when available, on parent discussion groups.
  • Attending school-sponsored workshops or events.
Student Responsibilities:
Students at Tri-Community will share the responsibility to improve their academic achievement and achieve Pennsylvania’s high standards. Specifically, students will:
  • Bring their book bags and materials to and from school as necessary.
  • Do their homework (including distance learning work) every day and ask for help when needed.  
  • Read and practice math facts every day outside of school time.
  • Give parents/guardians all notices and information received from the school every day.
  • Students will show the Tri-C 3 and be responsible, respectful and safe in the (virtual) learning environment.
  • Students will be respectful to others on social media platforms.
